2023: You Were A Good’un

Hello dear Reader, I know it’s been a while…I hope you haven’t forgotten about me! I’ve been pretty absent in 2023, I must admit, but you know I had to make a special appearance for my obligatory end of year round-up post.

2023 did not involve as much writing (or reading or exercising for that matter!) as I would have liked. The intention was there, if that means anything, but my toddler made it pretty impossible to put my head down and do it. I’m not complaining though, 2023 was really all about him and savouring my first experience as a Mum whilst being on maternity leave.

To say I’ve never been so overstimulated in my life would be an understatement. This pint-sized guy has more energy than any child I have ever met, not to mention the loudest roar too! But I would not change my little pocket rocket for the world, he’s awesome.

So awesome in fact that I decided one crazy kid wasn’t enough and found myself ringing the new year in whilst being almost 5 months pregnant😂. At the end of last year’s post I said “let’s see what 2023 has in store” apparently the answer to that was PREGNANCY haha. Now I await the joys of working part-time and having two kids under two in 2024.

I’m not really one for New Year’s resolutions but I do have some hopes for the year ahead. Firstly, I would love to become as close to my faith again as I was during my first pregnancy. It seems impossible sometimes to pray on a daily basis now with a toddler running around and causing mayhem, but I really want baby no.2 to get those same positive, calming vibes that baby no.1 benefitted from during his time in my belly. It’s only fair after all, so I will be trying my best from now on. I know that it’ll also help calm and centre me too.

Secondly, I want to get back to carving out some me-time again! My toddler’s sleeping patterns are much more predictable now, so I really want to make the most of the time I have left before the new baby comes and turns everything upside down again by doing some reading/writing/exercising. All these things will strengthen my mind and body and surely there’s nothing better for both myself and my little growing family?!

So wish me luck dear Reader. I pray that you too are blessed with all the good stuff that the universe has to offer. See ya!
