Whether you purposely clicked on my blog just now, or whether you fell down a rabbit hole and ended up here, or even if you’re just scrolling around as a means of procrastination or out of sheer boredom…I just want to say thank you.
It’s a great feeling to know that whenever I get a sudden, random urge to let out my innermost thoughts and feelings, I have a platform that’s ready and waiting for me to start typing and hit ‘publish’. This blog is my safe place and it has been for almost seven years now! 😮
But as they say, a house (or a blog) is just four walls and a roof, a home is what’s made up of everything and everyone inside. And this blog would be nothing without you dear reader; you make it feel like home.
With all of the relationships we hold in our day-to-day lives, there comes a certain level of expectation that said person must care about us, support us, listen to us etc, that’s just how it goes, that’s what they signed up for! But what’s special about this blogger-reader bond is that you don’t actually know me. You don’t owe me anything. I’m a complete stranger to you, yet you’ve taken time out of your day to listen to what I have to say. Trust me when I say that feeling is amazing.
When you comment and say that I made you smile with my words, or that I motivated you to take action, or to think about something from a different point of view, or even when you can just relate to something I’ve shared because you’ve been there too, it means the absolute world to me.
We spend our entire lives seeking out our purpose, where we fit in this big bad world and what our small part is to play. I know that I have a long way to go before I can say I’m truly, actively fulfilling my purpose, but I do know that this blog is a good starting point.
I’m proud of it. Not just of the content that I’ve created, but of the community that’s grown out of it. It warms my heart seeing familiar names liking and commenting on my posts, seven years in and some of you have started to feel like my virtual family!
So apologies for the soppiness, but I mean every word of it! It’s not even my blogiversary, I just woke up today feeling very blessed and grateful so I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you’ll continue to follow me on this crazy E.W.S. journey that we’ve embarked upon. 😛
indeed it matters a lot, to feel the sense of getting heard, getting back emotions, I feel the same, thank you for this lovely post
….and may those blessings continue to be bestowed on you 🙂
It’s a very hard thing to express feelings in a public sphere, while not knowing how your readership will react. Well done for keeping the writing up, it’s one of the most liberating things one can do (in addition to savouring the taste ‘saag and makki de roti’. Have a great week.
In then olden days, there was once upon a time a group called “Sly and the Family Stone” — and they sang a really neato song (for sixpence?)… singing “Thank You! (For letting me be myself 🙂 )” … again and again. It was a phenomenon — I wight almost say “you had to be there”, but you don’t (or didn’t, or haven’t or whatever) — there’s a YouTube for that! 😉
“then” is a typo for “the”, but I think maybe “wight” is perhaps a new + improved mashup of “would” + “might” 😀
This is such a positive read, thanks for sharing!
Thank you too for writing! I’ve always enjoyed your posts 🙂
We are grateful for you as well.
How nice …. you did make me smile, and before bedtime too. Which of course means, you will descend into pleasant dreams 🙏🏻💕
Gratitude is the right attitude, as the saying goes. Nice post!
I’ve lost my way several times, forgot to post for months on end. But whenever I come back, you have great posts that I look forward to reading. You are absolutely right about the safe spot. It is indeed a safe spot to talk about anything, our emotions, our lives, our likes and dislikes. This post hit it right on the spot. You sound pretty awesome, keep it up love. xoxo
