Ok, so a few minutes ago I thought that I’d check in on my Stats page, something that I like to take a peek at whenever I get an unexpected influx of new comments/likes. Today however, I actually took the time to study the carefully constructed graphs and figures that I typically tend to bypass because I’m really not a numbers person! Now you might want to sit down or hold on to your hat because what I found was that somehow I’ve managed to accumulate over 500 likes, 1,000 followers and 15,000 views for this blog! (Cue the dramatic music… dum dum dummmmm!)
How exactly this happened I honestly have no clue (no really I’m being serious, not fishing for compliments here I’m genuinely at a loss for words, but I’m definitely not complaining). One thing’s for sure, I can safely say that my decision last Autumn, to deactivate my Facebook account and start up a WordPress blog instead, was probably the smartest thing I’ve done in a very long time.
I was fascinated to see that people from such a wide range of countries and continents (from Australia to Africa, the US to Switzerland, even China and Cambodia!) are clicking on my blog and bothering to read my random posts. But I really do appreciate it and it’s such a crazy and humbling feeling to know that my writing is being valued in some way. Particularly when someone says that they can understand or relate to my posts, it really brightens my day and I know that I’m so lucky to have such a great following of fellow bloggers.
I’m also proud (and again shocked + confused) to have been nominated for 3 different blog awards since I started my WordPress journey over 7 months ago and have also inspired 3 of my friends to start up blogs too.
So I guess that all that’s left to say is a MASSIVE thanks to each and every one of you out there who has spent a few minutes of your day reading even one of the 60+ posts that this Small Town Girl has published. And if you’ve ever liked or commented on any of my posts, I’m sending a virtual hug your way right now 🙂 Thank you.
