The days are long, the nights sometimes longer,
They say what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.
Stronger, yes, but also overstimulated,
One minute Superwoman, the next minute Mrs Deflated.
When one wakes up the other or both are screaming for a cuddle,
Two under two; aka double trouble!
It’s not for the faint hearted, well that’s for sure,
Snapping and bickering with the husband, subconsciously always keeping score.
I changed more nappies than you, you got to have a lie-in,
I fed, bathed and put them to sleep, you couldn’t even empty out the nappy bin!
Ok pause…let’s have a time out and then come back together,
So we remember we’re a team, we can get through any weather.
This phase of life that we’re in is tough but there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
We’re building a family now, our own legacy.
So as much as we complain and say we miss the good old days: the past,
You know one day we’ll kick ourselves and say, “Damn, they grew up too fast!”
